Business Proccess Automation. It’s in Our DNA!

Since day one, CloudController has been designed and developed to automate all aspects of managing a cloud. We give as much importance to the business process of managing a cloud as the virtualization and operations management. We treat the design, configuration, ordering, payment, chargeback, showback, provisioning, deployment, management and reporting for cloud-based managed services and associated SLAs as one continuous process.

Resource Metering and Chargeback

CloudController has an extensive fully-integrated multi-tier back-end workflow processor engine for automating financial and business processes like:

  • Service item pricing, discounting, invoicing, and payment processing (if required);
  • Internal cost chargebacks;
  • Subscription and contract management;
  • Worldwide VAT and other tax calculation functions;
  • Automatic foreign currency exchange with currency hedging for service catalog items, etc.

CloudController provides these functions to all Management Users (Supply Chain owners) in the cloud. Thus CloudController does multi-tier billing, chargebacks, active payment and chargeback actions, etc. over all cloud-based managed services.

Performance Monitoring

CloudController can be used as a single unified solution suitable for a large organization to manage its entire Public, Private, Hybrid or Multi-cloud managed services business, rather than implementing individual point cloud management solutions per hypervisor, service type, country, or service location. Cloud administrators can:

  • Collect and display a full set of historical resource utilization data (up to 5 years) for CPU, Memory, HDD per cloud, per data center location, per hypervisor platform, per virtualization host and per VM
  • Set thresholds and receive warnings for any service object items (VM, server resource pools, PaaS, Containers, etc.) under the server hypervisors, as well as IP address inventories per cloud, per location, and per IP Pool
  • Automatically load-balance hypervisor Datastores to assure VM workloads are evenly spread over available Datastore groups
  • Monitor and report on the performance of Virtual Network functions attached to individual service objects
  • Display network bandwidth utilization of individual VMs
  • Set thresholds and performance SLAs for any service object
  • Many more detailed features too numerous to list here

A Lead Analyst from Info-Tech Research Group wrote about CloudController:

“This out-of-the-box platform contains nearly every capability that an enterprise or service provider would require to manage today’s cloud environments.”

Self Service Portal

CloudController allows administrators and service users to manage all resources and services in their cloud environment from a role-based true “Single-Pane-of-Glass” interface. Service Users are able to define, create, order, deploy, manage and support their choice of IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, AaaS, DaaS application stacks, STaaS (Storage), and Private VLAN services. System templates defined by the administrators are set to corporate standards and governance guidelines which greatly reduces human error.

Fully-Integrated Financial Processing System

The financial back-office workflows are fully integrated to the Service Catalog Management and Supply Chain Management workflows, so automated provisioning of services can be made dependent upon payment of services, or allowed chargeback levels. Metering and chargeback information can be exported from CloudController by each account owner in .CSV format, or by Management User accounts through our REST API.

Operational Process Automation

Automatizing processes benefits the organizations by reducing the risks, latencies and the costs. CloudController automates IT best practices in a secure and repeatable manner through service templates for:

  • Operational and Support Tasks
  • User and Supply Chain Management
  • Service Catalog Creation and Management
  • Resource Allocation and Performance Monitoring
  • Tracking and Reporting via a Granularly Configurable Audit Trail Manager
  • User Authentication and Security Management
  • Business Continuity and DR Support through Snapshot Scheduling and Management

What does Business Process Automation mean?

Business Process Automation can be described as “Managing information, data and processes to reduce costs, resources and investments”. It increases productivity by automating key business processes through computing technology. Business Process Automation is geared toward implementing software tools to automate routine business tasks through initiation, execution and completion, while achieving enterprise-wide workflow efficiency.

Cloud automation allows IT to align more closely with the demands of today’s 24-hour-per-day business environment. As organizations continue to rapidly adopt cloud-based service delivery, automated management has become essential for IT to deal with the flexibility and agility needed by today’s virtual data centers.
